Correct

Waves

A wave is either formed downstream of a submerged obstacle or downstream from where the river narrows abruptly. The wave may be breaking or smooth and stays stationary in the river (i.e. it does not travel upstream or downstream).

There may be a series of waves reducing in size the further they get from the obstacle that causes them. Waves can break over swimmers pushing them under the surface.
